TRINA Workshop: Multi-Sensorial Sound healing Session by Black Obsidian Sound System Collective

Workshops

Sunday, 13:30 - 15:00, TRINA

  • The session will be an immersive, multi-sensorial soundscape unfolding from our previous meditation soundscape, deepening into a space of resonance, rest, and self-guided experience.
This offering invites participants into a gently held environment where sound, texture, and presence intersect to create a meditative environment. The space is participatory, yet entirely optional, rooted in autonomy, consent, and intuitive engagement. You are encouraged to move, rest, or simply witness, guided only by your own body and inner rhythm.
At the heart of the session is a live ambient sound journey (with the option of a pre-recorded composition), layered with a softly looping intention-setting vocal. This acts as a quiet anchor throughout the experience, reminding participants that all interaction is invitational, never expected. Within the space we will have our black obsidian orb for people to pass around and feel, a resonant sound bowl that the facilitators will utilise around participants, we want to encourage subtle interaction and sensory exploration. Incense at the threshold marks a gentle transition into the space, an olfactory cue to arrive, ground, and enter with intention.

Workshop facilitators 1000raks X Marcarcass (Black Obsidian Sound System Collective)

1000raks (formerly raks2riches) is a multi-genre DJ and sound artist whose style lends a big focus towards playing and spotlighting music of Black, Queer and Trans origins; such as club, [afro]electronic and ballroom (vogue), dub, gqom, hip hop, pxssy rap, alt-pop music among other genres. Their potent and seamless mixes take you on a journey, evoking unabashed joys and movement on the dance floor. 1000raks played the Trina stage at Whole 2025.
Marcarcass is a passionate South London-based grower, community organiser, tour manager, DJ, aspiring Banjo player, facilitator, and cultural advocate. He has extensive experience navigating the intersection of food sovereignty, racial justice, land justice, music, and community organising.
Black Obsidian Sound System (B.O.S.S.) was established in the summer of 2018 with the intention of bringing together a community of queer, trans and non-binary black and people of colour involved in art, sound and radical activism. Following in the legacies of sound system culture they wanted to learn, build and sustain a resource for our collective struggles. The black-led system, based in London, is available to use or rent by community groups and others with the purpose of amplifying and connecting them.
